There's already some people suggesting gaming computers on the forums but they're about $1000 so I thought I'd post this one as it's for $500, not including a monitor though which is about $151 / £100. *Also, in the title it says £330 but it will probably cost more to ship these items from America, if they even do.

Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 3.2 Ghz - $99

It may not be quad core but if you don't have the money to spare this is really what you want as it's still Dual and 3.2 Ghz. Most of the new games today have a recommended processor speed of 3 Ghz so you should be fine.

Motherboard: ASUS M4A785-M $75

Not much to say here except it will support all the other components and get enough power to them.

Graphics Card Processor: Radeon HD 4850 1024MB - $120

This card may of come out a couple years ago but you'll be hard pushed to find another gfx card with 1024mb memory and for a good price. Most games today ask for 512mb memory so you should be okay there. I'll try and find some benchmarks for this graphics card as well

RAM: 4GB DDR2 - $50

This is what I have in my computer and it does the job. Most games today ask for 2GB maybe 3GB RAM so you'll have plenty to spare for other running tasks.

Case and Power Supply: 9257 Black Computer Case/Mid Tower 600 Watt and 250mm Fan - $50

This really is the bare minimum you can do as it goes for Case, power supply and fan and if you have any spare cash I'd recommend a new case and a better fan as the cooling is essential for smooth gameplay, high fps and general computing.

To get these products online, just google them. I hope you like this guide to buying a cheap, but powerful-ish gaming computer.

Building a computer is certainly tremendously cheaper than buying it from a company pre-made (plus you have more customization options.) We built a computer several years ago (outdated now, but back then it would have been comparable to this relative to market pcs) and it was great. It is still running, but I don't really use it much after getting my new laptop.
